Join us at the Schlagle branch for the 2023 City Nature Challenge in the Greater Kansas City Metro Area! This is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. It’s a bioblitz-style competition where cities are in a friendly contest with each other to see who can make the most observations of nature, who can find the most species, and who can engage the most people.

All you need to bring to the Schlagle library is your iPhone and your sense of adventure. With the iNaturalist app you’ll document the incredible biodiversity around Wyandotte County Lake Park!  You can observe along the lakeshore and through the woods with Schlagle staff members or you can branch off and explore other parts of the park on your own. Please register so we can get an idea of the size of our team that day. Meet at the library and we’ll venture out from there! Let’s help put KC on the International Nature Map!
