March 8th is International Woman’s Day, with the theme this year of #BreaktheBias. To celebrate women and equality this month, try making this simple matching game at home that illustrates some adjectives about all kids, everywhere!
To make this activity, you’ll need your choice of the PDF files below, access to a printer, and two pages each of pink, blue, and another color cardstock.
Alternatively, you can write and decorate a set of cards yourself by hand and create your list of adjectives with a children’s dictionary from our collection! Completed kits are also available for pick-up at the Main Library Youth Services Department.
If you choose to download the completed gender matching game file, you can print pages 1 and 2 on one side of your two cardstock pages. Do this for each color. Then, utilize your printer’s double-sided feature or reload the paper so that it uses the other side and print pages 3 and 4. Again, repeat this for the different cardstock colors, too.
If you choose the blank gender matching game template, you can customize the adjectives in the 36 cells on pages 1 and 2. Then type in your game name and copy it in every cell on pages 3 and 4. Follow the same directions as above to print pages 1 and 2 on one side and pages 3 and 4 on the other side for each color of cardstock. Cut out the cards to have an inclusive matching game your kids can play and enjoy!
Once you have your playing cards ready to use, follow the instructions on setting up the game and start playing!
