About Online Programs @ KCKPL

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kansas City, Kansas Public Library had to close temporarily for the safety of staff and patrons. To still maintain a connection with the community and serve our patrons, we’ve created this blog to host online programming.  You can find out full event calendar here.

The book sale is starting at #libraryinthepark! Come to Main Library to fill a bag for $10.
It’s that time of year again for the persimmon tree to predict the weather for our winter season! Persimmons are edible once plump, orange, & drop from the tree. Save one of the seeds, slice it open, and see what shape you find inside. If you find a spoon, it will be a very snowy winter full of shoveling. If you find a knife, the winds will cut coldly; if you find a fork, it will be a mild winter. EVERY seed we opened at the Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library informed us that we better dust our shovels off.
Library in the Park is tomorrow from 11am-3pm at Huron Park behind Main Library! We'll have a book giveaway, fun activities and games, free ice cream, and the GIANT book sale! We hope to see you there!
Join us at the Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library on Saturday, October 21, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm for a Trunk-or-Treat! Library staff, patrons, and community partners will be there to hand out candy. Costumes are encouraged but not required. All ages are welcome! Use the link in our bio for more info. See you there!
Each Wednesday, at 9:30 am, Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library offers a Nature Story Time, where we incorporate the environment into our stories, such as reading and playing outside, taking a hike, and/or petting a live animal!
Get ready to scare up some spooky treats at the South Branch Library! Join us for a ghoulishly fun edition of Cupcake Wars, where kids 6 and up will conjure up the most wickedly delicious Halloween-themed cupcakes! We'll provide the cupcakes and creepy decorations. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 14, at 1:00 pm! Register now by calling 913-295-8250 ext 3!
