July 13 is the 70th anniversary of the Great Flood of 1951. That evening we will host a Zoom lecture by Dr. Daniel Serda on the history of Armourdale, a community greatly impacted by the flood. Planning, Community and Renewal in Armourdale. Dr. Serda will discuss the early development of Armourdale and how natural, economic and political forces continue to shape its evolution as a working-class community.

Dr. Serda is a city planner specializing in urban design and community planning and currently serves as Economic Development Program Officer for Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). A Zoom link for the lecture is available on the events calendar at kckpl.org.
