A third streaming camera of a Peregrine Falcon nest in the Kansas City area has come online. There is parenting activity at each site. The latest is at Harrah’s Casino in North Kansas City. Following is the link to the live stream. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xa7UmufwcY

Peregrine Falcons have been on the Endangered Species List since the 1970s. Luckily they have adapted well to urban city environments. Naturally, they would use tall cliffs for nesting. For many, skyscrapers are their preferred nesting habitat or very tall structures. In the Kansas City region, that includes utility company Evergy’s smokestack at the Iatan Power Plant north of Weston. For a look at that nest box, check out this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htHkVUjXCGM

The Plaza is host to the third sight courtesy of American Century Investments. The nest box on their building has produced successful broods of falcon chicks for several years. The link to their box is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIwCBks7HDg

Two other nest boxes exist in Kansas City but without live cameras. They include the Commerce Bank Building in downtown Kansas City and the Shook, Hardy, and Bacon building near Crown Center.

Throughout Missouri, both Bald eagles and Peregrine falcons have successfully recovered due to many business and government partners. Peregrine falcons could come off the list for the State of Missouri in the not too distant future!
