Even though we’ve just come through a bone-chilling snowy February, spring is preparing to come marching in. The colors and fragrances of flowers, fresh air, birdsong, and warm breezes aren’t too far away—something hopeful to look forward to in the near future.
This Citizen Science project is all about recording those first buds & blooms in your backyard or a favorite outdoor space! By tracking the phenology of when different plants bloom throughout the seasons, scientists are tracking how our climate is changing and what effect that is having on our plant, animal, and human life. If you are a budding botanist, I think your family will enjoy observing the heralding of spring with the Citizen Science project Budburst.
