“At the center of its community, the farm generates an inspiring environment transforming the individual and society through community-wide, multi-generational, participatory, and collaborative food projects while it provides job training opportunities, healing and fun.”

Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is partnering with KC Farm School to bring you some exciting homeschool programming for the remainder of 2020. KC Farm School at Gibbs Road empowers individuals through on-farm, hands-on experiences and vocational education connecting them to the land and soil, food, themselves and their communities. It is located at 4223 Gibbs Road in Kansas City, KS.

KC Farm School sits on a historic Wyandotte County farm site. Their food is distributed through Community Supported Agriculture shares, their Pay What You Please on-farm market (they accept cash, check, credit card and SNAP) wholesale through their membership in the Kansas City Food Hub, and through barter agreements for skilled trades and to gleaning organizations. They provide education, job skills training, and the opportunity to get in touch with the soil to people of all ages. They share their space, skills and resources with the community.

KC Farm School holds a Farm Club, which is a Saturday club designed for ages 4-8 that lasts for 4 weeks, every Saturday from 9-11am. Families will get to spend time together with on a beautiful organic farm while learning about renewable agriculture, art, health and wellness.  They are holding 2 sessions, which begin on October 3rd and October 31st, and another in November focusing on fitness.

As you can see, their resources are invaluable and KCKPL is excited to partner with such a vital organization in Wyandotte County. In 2020, we will hold the following programs along with KC Farm School:
