Robotic Finger Kit
Science kits are available to pick up at the South Branch Library from 9-5 on weekdays while supplies last.
This kit includes everything you need to make a moving model of a finger! It also includes a sheet that will tell you all about the science behind this activity!
Here are the steps to assemble your “robotic” finger model:
Step 1: Take the “robotic” finger template and flip it over. Fold both outside edges to the middle, crease, and unfold.
Step 2: Fold along the horizontal center of each diamond cutout, crease, and unfold.
Step 3: Flip the paper over and get your two glue dots. Place your glue dots on the side that is shaded grey. Place one on the top and one on the bottom as shown in the picture.
Step 4: Fold the paper so that the shaded side is directly behind the side with bones. Press on the top and bottom to seal the glue dots. Your finger should now resemble a triangular tube.
Step 5: Tie one end of the string to the hole on the tip of the finger. Thread the other end of the string down the hollow of the finger. Pull the string to make the finger bend!
