Did you miss our oral history program in July? No problem! We recorded the Zoom session, So I Heard: Capturing Personal Stories and Creating Sharable Content, and have archived it on our YouTube channel. This presentation by Trevor Harris will introduce you to the process of collecting a personal memoir, including what questions to ask, recording devices to use, and how to share your recordings. If you have always wanted to interview your friends and family, this is a great place to get started.
Trevor Harris has 25 years of experience producing and hosting programs for public and community radio. Last year, he started the Recollection Agency, a business through which he preserves personal and family narratives. Through his business, Trevor interviews clients about a whole life or just part of it. He then works with the recordings to produce sharable content.
The Kansas Room at the Main Library is home to a collection of oral histories of Wyandotte County residents. If you are interested in being interviewed or listening to the stories of others, email the Kansas Collection librarian at alacey@kckpl.org.
