Hi, everyone, this is Ms. Katherine! The teachers at my children’s school have been using lessons from the website Mystery Science for a few years now. The lessons from this website use an “open-and-go” approach to teach science in an interactive and hands-on way.
Both of my kids really enjoy these lessons, and we wanted to make you aware of some of these resources if you, or your kids, enjoy science or are just curious about the world around you. One of the videos that my son recently watched during his online learning was about baby animals:
We really enjoyed his videos and we hope you do too.
The creator of the website, a man called “Mystery Doug”, also has a series of short videos that answer questions sent to him by students that you can check out on his YouTube channel. Here is another fun example – a video he made about the existence of leap years:
Mystery Doug is a former elementary science teacher and last month he hosted his very first live show from his home. To view all the videos from Mystery Doug, check out his YouTube page by clicking here:
You can also visit his website here:
On Thursday, May 21st at 12:00 pm, he will be hosting another live show. This show will be all about SPACE with a special video cameo by astronaut Jessica Meir, who will be answering some questions from students that Doug sent her while she was aboard the International Space Station!
If you miss the live recording, then you can view it after the event on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYMs8ZiNovk.
